Find Out about Stewardship

We Are Called…

  • What is Stewardship?
  • Do you sing during Mass?
  • Have you ever stopped by an elderly neighbor’s house just to say “hi”?
  • Do you ever recycle your computer printer ink cartridge?
  • Do you just pray?

These activities might seem mundane but each action is an example of stewardship – the use of your God given gifts. We are called by Christ to be his disciples.  In saying "YES," we are accepting an invitation that involves much more than saying "I am a Christian."  We are accepting His invitation to a life of action.

As Disciples of Christ, we are called to use our gifts to do God’s work to fulfill the mission set forth by Jesus.  Stewardship is sharing a portion of your time, talent, and treasure that you have been given.

Here at St. Joseph Parish we facilitate the mission of the Church by supporting our current ministries and exploring additional ministries that answer a call for a need in the community.  These ministries are our outward signs of our commitment to the building the Kingdom of God.  Not only are our actions signs of our commitment but the seeking of financial gifts also inspires us to holiness through self-giving.

What is Development?

Development is the recognition, nurturing and coordination of time, talent and treasure donated by our parish community.  It compliments our calling for stewardship as Christians.  Development is a long term planning process in which we look to the parish mission statement for our guidance.  Then as a family of faith we actively support the ministries that make it possible for us “to be a community of disciples reaching out in service to all”.
