Parish Survey

(Executive Summary click HERE)

Dear St. Joseph Parishioner,

I want to thank those of you who took the time to respond to our Parish Survey.  I want to share with you what led up to, the results of, and our plans following the survey.  We appreciate your involvement in helping us build a more vibrant, dynamic parish!

Over the past few years, our Mass attendance has been declining.  Also, in correlation with this, contributions to our Sunday offertory have declined.  Finally, over the past several years, it has become more challenging to recruit volunteers for our various ministries, outreach and events.

During late May and early June, we administered an online survey.  535 were completed.  The executive summary with the survey results is attached.  The majority of our respondents were over age 40 and married.  To supplement our survey, we hosted a compression planning session.  We had a moderator come in to hold the session in mid-October.  We had a group of 20 parishioners attend to provide feedback as to how we can become a more vibrant, dynamic parish.  We reached out to some of our younger parishioners, non-married parishioners, ministry leaders, and those of you who said you’d be willing to be part of a small group discussion via the survey.

With the results of the survey and the compression planning session, we plan to identify several key strategic issues to address.  We will report back to you to inform you of what these key findings are.  We will put a plan in place to address the key issues, which will include a timeline to start as soon as the next 6 months.  The timeline for our plan may go out 2-3 years.

As we continue to move forward with these efforts, we ask for your involvement, your input, your prayers, and your support.  We welcome any thoughts you would like to share - please contact Kim Koesters at or 419.885.5791.

Thank you for all the ways in which you support our parish!

Gratefully in the Lord,

Rev. Msgr. Dennis Metzger
