Sew-Sew Crew
This group of ladies sew simple baptismal garments, averaging about 100 garments a year.

Comfort Blanket Ministry
The Comfort Blanket Ministry involves making blankets (43"x43") by sewing twenty five 9" decorated squares of fabric together. Some squares have messages of hope and encouragement. The blankets are given to people who are having a difficult time in their lives due to illness, death, divorce, job loss, etc. The group meets once a month on the third Wednesday. Christmas Ministry Social Outreach
The mission of this outreach program is to assist local families in need celebrate Christmas. The ministry was founded more than 11 years ago by Mary Jane and Mike DelVerne and has grown to serve more than 200 families, due to the interest and generosity of our parishioners. The families that we serve are referred to us by Harbor, Heros in Action, Sylvania Area Family Services and our own parish. We are blessed that it has been funded by donations and staffed by many volunteers.

Blood Drive
The annual blood drive is coordinated in conjunction with the American Red Cross and hosted by the Knights of Columbus each fall. This invaluable event would not be possible without the help of volunteers to help set up and tear down the equipment, and especially those who donate blood! Knights of Columbus
The Knights of Columbus is a family-oriented, Catholic fraternal service organization that has as its main principles, charity, unity, and fraternity. Its main focus is supporting the pastor in his goals and protecting the widows and children of members through our fraternal benefit programs. Any practicing Catholic male over the age of 18 is eligible to become a member.

Funeral Liturgy Planning Committee
Staff members and a committee of parishioners assist bereaved members in preparing the funeral liturgy of a deceased parishioner. Bible readings, music, prayers and participants are selected with the assistance of this group. Additional support and outreach are available through the Bereavement Group.

Feed my Sheep Garden
Saint Joseph has a vegetable garden on the grounds near the Wurzel Family Center. Our garden volunteers plant and tend the garden and then harvest and deliver the vegetables to various community centers throughout the area.

Helping Hands of St. Louis
The Helping Hands of Saint Louis Soup Kitchen is located on 6th Street on the East Side of Toledo. We prepare, serve, and clean up for the lunch on the 2nd Friday of every month. We also do the Christmas meal for the kitchen. We serve between 150-200 people each day we are there, and around 400 for the Christmas meal. Volunteer hours are flexible from 8:30am-1:00pm.

Historic St. Pat's Soup Kitchen
We help serve a noon meal to the public on the last Sunday of each month at the LMHA building near St. Patrick Parish. This soup kitchen, a ministry of Historic St. Pat's, serves one meal each Sunday. Since 1991, Saint Joseph has provided volunteers for the last Sunday shift. St. Pat’s supplies the food, with Saint Joseph volunteers preparing it from 10am–12pm and serving it from 11:30am–1:30pm.

St. Paul's Soup Kitchen
In the mid 90's our parish was asked to support Saint Paul's United Methodist Soup Kitchen. This is one-time per year commitment, usually in mid-September. Our commitment is a Sunday meal served at 1:30pm to the public from Saint Paul's Community Center and Shelter downtown. Different churches throughout the area provide both the food and preparation for approximately 150 meals each Saturday and Sunday throughout the year.

Joseph's Meals
On the 3rd Wednesday of each month, Saint Joseph parishioners donate food items including baked pasta casseroles to be used at Saint Louis Kitchen for the poor in East Toledo. Sign up sheets are posted in the back of church and both front entrances during all Masses on the previous weekend. Then on the following Wednesday morning, parishioners drop off their donations in the Ravine lot on the East Campus.

Scouts

Boy Scouts
Under careful leadership, boys in grades six through high school are helped to grow into authentic masculinity.The troop enjoys backpacking as well as week-long experiences at Camp Pioneer. The scouts are also involved in many service projects.

Cub Scouts
Cub Scouting helps boys in grades 1–5 build character through family, church, and community involvement. Pack 87 camps with Saint Joseph's Boy Scout Troop, does service projects, attends Scout Sunday Mass, and races in the annual Pinewood Derby. Cubs meet year-round to learn skills, have fun, and advance from Tiger to Arrow of Light.

Girl Scouts
Saint Joseph girls have the opportunity to participate in Girl Scouts beginning in Kindergarten. Scouts take on additional responsibilities and leadership as they move through the levels of Girl Scouting: Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes and Seniors. The program gives scouts a variety of experiences in leadership, outdoor skills, science and technology, arts and crafts, sports and community service.

Good Samaritan

Personal Care Collection
The Saint Joseph collection is every month, during the last full weekend of the month. We donate the collected toiletry items to area organizations: Jewish Family Services, Lutheran Social Services and Sylvania Area Family Services. Suggested items to donate are body soap/wash, toilet paper, shampoo, toothpaste and deodorant.

Liturgy Committee
The committee members meet regularly to study the liturgical year and to plan celebrations that will enrich the faith life of parishioners. Special attention is given to the seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, the Holy Triduum and Easter. Meetings are open to all.

Medical Loan Closet
Reusable assistive equipment such as a cane, walker, shower chair, etc can be donated or borrowed from the Saint Joseph equipment closet. Any request to donate or borrow the equipment needs to be made by calling the Parish Office.
